Die klassische Szene aus Faust: Der Prolog im Himmel. Hier werden die Grundlagen der Wette, sowie der Ausgang des ganzen Stücks, erstellt. Es fehlen hier nur die Versen 287-292
Gustav Gründgens spielt Mephisto in der Inszenierung des Hamburger Schauspielhauses. Die englische Übersetzung ist die Klassische aus dem 19ten Jahrhundert von George Madison Priest. Bis jetzt fand ich keine die besser passt.
English: Here's a scene from the production of Goethe's play Faust. The Prologue in Heaven is probably one of the most important scenes to understand what the play is about. I added the translation (the classic one by George Madison Priest) so that more people can enjoy and appreciate this. Goethe worked on Faust for 60 years, his entire life practically, and it's easily one of the greatest literary works of all time, composed entirely in rhyme. I sometimes wonder why noone took it as a holy book and started a cult with it.
